ACSAUVEL
Civil Association for the Safeguard of the Child in Lebanon
– One House for all Generations –
ACSAUVEL, civil association for the safeguard of the human being in Lebanon, is a non-profit, humanitarian association that is recognized by the Lebanese Government under N. 127 dated 19/10/1979.
The first goal of our association is to develop the autonomy and social integration of every person that attends our center without any racial, political, or religious discrimination. Our association is currently in charge of 78 mentally-challenged children and adults. We offer them specialized education until they attain the age of 18 years, and at that stage, they move on to our workshops section to learn skills at a professional level. Their main activities are pottery, wicker workshop, sewing, cooking, and mosaic.
Our center was built and equipped during the war thanks to the generosity and the support of many international organizations such as: World Vision International, Misereor, MissionPontificale. Since then ACSAUVEL received support from the Embassies of France, England, Germany, Canada, Japan, and the USAID. Our head quarters are in Tamish, near Champville School in the Metn area.

Our vision – Making dreams come true
One House for all Generations – Acsauvel prepares for the future
For the past five years, Mrs. Nabila Fares has been leading Acsauvel into a new area. With her vision, inspiration, and trust – against all odds and hardship – Nabila Fares has paved the way for a fundamental transformation of Acsauvel.
This transformation into a “One House for all Generations” aims at providing a loving, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children and adults of all ages with intellectual challenges. Acsauvel is a place that fosters personal strength, enabling friendship and promoting self-reliance. We want Acsauvel to always be a home and a partner in life for its “children”.
Our Projects
Acsauvel is now committed to a period of renewal and invigoration after having reached the mature of 37 years 1979 – 2016.
We have decided to build two new floors in our establishment to provide more opportunities for our children who are under 5 years old, those who are still at the pre-school stage (early care).
Our goal is for these young children to become members of the family of Acsauvel that would provide them with the appropriate, necessary and professional care and protection.
The first new floor will contain dormitories, protected workshops, library, computer room and a fully equipped theater.
The 2nd floor will be disposed as a shelter that accommodates older people with special needs who do not have a system of continued care or support.
Our Volunteers
- In the kitchen: a group of volunteers is responsible in the manufacturing of delicious pastry products that are put on sale to benefit Acsauvel.
- In the pottery workshop: volunteers manufacture, exhibit and sell their unique products for the benefit of Acsauvel.
- In the educational center: Volunteers engage our children with animation and games.
Internships
Acsauvel welcomes interns to contribute in their training during their studies.
The major universities we work with are: the Lebanese University (government), Saint Joseph University (USJ) Notre Dame University (NDU), and the Holy Spirit University Kaslik (USEK).
Medical control
Once a year, all of those registered in ACSAUVEL, benefit free of charge from the professional examination of there health by two doctors. A follow-up is assured when needed. This project was put in place thanks to the generosity of the municipal clinic of BEIT EL CHAAR
